Comets running group


 

Our main focus is to encourage others to take up running whether for fitness, fun, to train towards an event or a combination of all three.

Our club is small, welcoming and most importantly friendly.  We enjoy the social side of running especially the benefits that this brings to us all,  such as support and increased motivation. We started as a group of friends who wanted to start or return to running, since our humble beginnings in 2015 three members have completed their coaching qualifications enabling us to build and grow the club and share our enjoyment of running with others.

The Comets meet every Monday & Thursday to jog / run. We have 4 UKAA Running for Fitness coaches who can lead a variety of routes. There is a wide range of ability levels and experience within the group. Those who are relatively new to running (started towards the end of 2015) and those who have completed a number of races and events up to half-marathon distance.

Many in our group are training towards the Wakefield 10km race in April 2017, some of these ladies started with no running experience before Christmas 2016 and have gradually increased their distances, completed a number of 5km Park Runs and have 10km in their sights as their next goal.
